You are MORE than a conqueror!

I am still amazed at the religious garbage that is thrown out into the world for good Christians to pick up and believe.  Remember to always test the spirits and make sure what you see and hear lines up with the Word of God.  If it doesn't, then it isn't true.  I saw a post awhile back on Facebook. (yes, I am on Facebook a lot.) The post said this:

It is your job to haunt hell and destroy the works of the devil.
Quit being afraid and walk in all you were given.

Sounds good, right?  But so untrue and a statement made in error and ignorance of the Word of God.

  • We are called to resist the devil and then he will depart from us. (James 4:7 - Therefore submit to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you. )
  • Jesus has already destroyed the works of the devil.  It is for that purpose He was made manifest in the flesh (1 John 3:8 - He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.  For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.)
  • Jesus destroyed death. (2 Timothy 1:10 - but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,)
We have to remember that our King was victorious through His death and resurrection over the enemy.  There is nothing left for us to destroy.  Jesus overcame death, hell and the grave so we might have eternal life and a right relationship with the Father.  Our battle remains against principalities and powers who must obey the name of Jesus, because He was given all authority by the Father.  (Matthew 28:18 - And Jesus came and spoke them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth,")

We are overcomers because He overcame.  We have authority over the enemy because Jesus gave us the authority to use His name.

Mark 16:17 - "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; "

Verse 18 goes on to say that nothing will harm come to those that are doing those things Jesus said they would do if they believed and were baptized.

Romans 8:37-39

37 - Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
38 - For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
39 - Nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It sounds to me as though Paul made it very clear.  We are more than conquerors through Him.  Then Paul made a declaration.  He is persuaded that there is not any thing that will ever separate him from the love of God.  Our enemy has been defeated.  Now, he roams the earth looking for whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8). Be ever vigilant in the teachings you take into your heart.  Be vigilant in your watch for the enemy.  He is looking for people to take with him, those he can destroy.  We have the ability to resist the devil, and we have the authority in the name of Jesus Christ that has been given to us so that we may know the victory Jesus has already given to us.

Apart from Him, we can't do anything in this life.  (John 15:5) We cannot be deceived into believing that we must destroy the works of the enemy.  We have been given victory.  We just need to walk in that victory using the authority given to us through the Name of Jesus Christ.  We must realize that Jesus is our strength and we cannot do anything in and of ourselves.
