What is "The Gospel" we should be preaching?

Throughout our lives as Christians we are taught that we are to share the gospel with all nations.  The "good news" of salvation is considered to be the gospel, right?  We are to go unto the ends of the earth and share the salvation of Jesus Christ with all people, right? But what exactly was said during "The Great Commission" as we Christians have come to call it.

Matthew 28:18-20  And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  (19)  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  (20)  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

We have also heard many people warn to beware of "other gospels."
What is "The Gospel" we should be preaching and preparing for?

Matthew 24:14 says: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world to all the nations, and then the end will come.

So... the gospel we should be preaching is the gospel of the Kingdom.  Well, that seems to me to be a little more than just Jesus died and rose again for our salvation.  But... what is the gospel of the kingdom?

To help me answer this question, I turned to a source I have valued my entire life: my father.  He has been a bible teacher for as long as I can remember and he has done a study on this very subject. I went to his ministry web site, Lifestream Teaching Ministries, and found a lesson on this exact subject.  It is called simply Gospel of the Kingdom.

In this article, there is a statement that stood out to me.

We have been told by the institutional church that Jesus came so that we could go to heaven. If we accept Him into our heart we will miss hell and go to heaven. However, Jesus NEVER said anything like that.  He tells us in Luke chapter four one of the primary reasons that He was sent by the Father.
Luke 4:43 NKJV but He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent."
We have so lost focus on God's purpose that we don't see anything about the Kingdom and don't seem to understand anything about the gospel of the Kingdom. Jesus continually spoke of the Kingdom and taught about the Kingdom and demonstrated the gospel of the Kingdom as part of His mission from the Father. In Him we have the pattern that we are to follow.
Jesus demonstrated the gospel of the kingdom. In the article, Art Nelson also discusses the power of God demonstrated through preaching of the gospel.  The gospel is two parts: saying and doing.
Are we falling short in preaching the gospel?  Yes, I believe we are.  I also believe it is due to a lack of equipping the saints that is occurring in the body of Christ today.  Romans 14:9:
9 - For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Jesus Christ is not fire insurance that will allow us to avoid the pit of Hell.  He is King and Lord.  He rules as King in a Kingdom, and he died, rose, and lived again to be Lord of all.  Are we preaching His Lordship and Kingship as part of the gospel we are preaching?  Are we preaching the entire gospel as Jesus did?
Are we preaching the gospel Jesus preached...that Paul taught?  If not, which gospel are we preaching?
As always, feel free to email me. I would love to hear from you and pray with you.   rushingcindy@gmail.com.
